Bad Coaching Doesn't Create Growth. It Creates Identity Conflict.
One of the most overlooked reasons businesses stall isn't strategy.
It's identity conflict.
The founder is trying to operate as someone they're not.
Usually because somebody told them they should.
The coach says:
Be more aggressive.
Be more analytical.
Be more structured.
Be more dominant.
Be more visible.
Be more sales-driven.
The founder follows the advice.
But something feels off.
Because the advice isn't aligned.
Now they're burning energy trying to maintain a version of themselves that isn't natural.
Eventually performance drops.
Confidence drops.
Motivation drops.
And everyone blames the founder.
But sometimes the founder isn't the problem.
Sometimes the advice is.
The goal of coaching isn't replication.
It's amplification.
A coach should amplify what's already strongest in the person.
Not overwrite it.
The founder doesn't need another personality.
They need a better understanding of their own.
